Clara Shih is CEO and founder of Hearsay Social and member of the Starbucks Board of Directors. A pioneer in the social media industry, Clara developed the first social business application in 2007 and is a New York Times-featured bestselling author. She has been named one of Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Entrepreneurs, Fast Company’s Most Influential People in Technology, and Businessweek’s Top Young Entrepreneurs.
Based in Silicon Valley, Hearsay Social provides social business software for relationship managers to attract, retain, and grow customer relationships using popular social networks. Clara previously served in a variety of technical, product, and marketing roles at Google, Microsoft, and Salesforce.com. Clara graduated #1 in Computer Science at Stanford University, where she also received an MS in Computer Science – User Experience and Design. Clara also holds an MS in Internet Studies from Oxford University, where she studied as a U.S. Marshall Scholar.
Steve Garrity is CTO and founder of Hearsay Social and an expert in developing scalable enterprise software solutions. Hearsay Social is the leading social business platform for the financial services industry, empowering global financial services teams to efficiently and successfully use social media to attract prospects, retain customers, and grow business. Steve has been highlighted in The Start-up of You, a new book by LinkedIn founder and chairman Reid Hoffman, as exemplary of the entrepreneurial spirit, and has been featured on Jon Sakoda’s blog as an example of a great founder. Before founding Hearsay Social, Steve worked as an engineer at Microsoft Corporation in Seattle where he developed the Azure.net services platform. He is a graduate of Stanford University with a BS and MS in Computer Science. At Stanford, he was selected as a Mayfield Fellow while studying Computer Science.
Bill has served as Hearsay Social’s Chief Financial Officer since January 2015. From 2011 to 2014, Bill was the CFO of Avast Software, a privately held security software company, where he was a member of the executive management team and responsible for all financial matters during a period of significant financial and operational growth. Previously, Bill served as CFO of Crescendo Bioscience, a privately-held molecular diagnostics company, which he joined prior to product release, building the finance organization and driving capital raising activities including the innovative financing transaction that ultimately led to Crescendo’s acquisition by Myriad Genetics. From 1994 to 2008, Bill served as an officer, most recently Managing Director, in Morgan Stanley’s Investment Banking Division, where he advised senior management of technology companies on initial public offerings and other equity and debt financings. Bill started his career in law practice with Davis Polk & Wardwell. He has a B.A. in International Relations from Stanford University and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.
Mark brings more than 15 years of enterprise and consumer product design experience to Hearsay Social, having served as head of product for a variety of key business units at Microsoft including System Center, Visual Studio, and Bing; driving technical and product strategy for Microsoft’s $17 billion server and tools business; and building out Microsoft’s product presence in Europe and Asia.
Gary is responsible for all aspects of marketing at Hearsay Social. Gary brings twenty years of experience in business strategy, marketing, and strategic alliances. Prior to Hearsay Social, Gary was at ServiceSource where he led marketing functions including solution marketing, as well as corporate, customer and field marketing to help the company grow from $46 million in 2006 to over $240 million in revenue. Before ServiceSource, Gary was at Siebel Systems where he held leadership roles in product marketing and partner management. Gary holds an MBA from the University of Michigan and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.
Yasmin brings over 15 years of corporate legal experience spanning both privately-held and public technology companies. At Hearsay Social, Yasmin is responsible for the company’s legal affairs including, commercial, compliance, regulatory and privacy matters. Yasmin is a thought leader in social media compliance for the financial services industry and often writes and speaks at events on social media compliance. Before joining Hearsay Social, Yasmin has held various senior legal positions at technology companies in Silicon Valley. Yasmin has earned a JD from Golden Gate University and BA from University of California, Berkeley.
Ron Piovesan is Vice President, Strategic Alliances for Hearsay Social and focuses on building partnerships with social media networks and other ecosystem partners. Prior to Hearsay, Ron led Firefox’s content team, which built over 250 content, gaming, and app partnerships worldwide. Ron spent seven years at Cisco, most recently in corporate development where he led a series of equity investments in Latin America and the Middle East. Ron lectures on social media strategies at Stanford University and has a Bachelors of Journalism degree from Carleton University in Canada; a Masters in Communications from Goldsmiths College, UK; and an MBA from the joint program at the Columbia GSB and UC Berkeley Haas School of Business.
Abhay is passionate about delighting Hearsay Social’s customers. His team is focused on driving successful implementations and professional services, managing ongoing engagements and education programs with customers, and delivering world-class customer support and services. With nearly 20 years of experience in product development, product marketing and customer enablement, Abhay is a recognized business leader and regular speaker in the world of customer success.
Prior, Abhay was Vice President of Customer Success at YouSendIt (now Hightail) where he built the customer success organization from the ground up, delivering industry-leading customer satisfaction and retention rates. Previously, Abhay managed product operations, strategy, pricing and training for Cisco’s Security Technology Business Unit (STBU) and also held product, engineering, and marketing management positions at IronPort Systems, 3Com Corporation and Wipro Technologies.
Abhay holds an M.B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley, and a B.S. in Computer Science from the National Institute of Technology, India.
Stephen comes to Hearsay Social with over 25 years experience building high performance global sales organizations. His leadership roles have been in some of the most innovative market segments including social, mobile and big data. Prior to joining Hearsay Social, Steve was Senior VP of Sales for Kony Solutions, the leader in mobile application development solutions. Other market leading companies Steve has held leadership positions with include Jive Software, IMI, and Optum Software. Steve was also co-founder and CEO of Spring Lake Technologies that provided innovative predictive software that enabled companies to hire and develop high performing sales professionals. Steve has spoken to audiences worldwide on the topic of using world-class methods to build and scale high performance, highly motivated sales organizations. Steve sits on the advisory board of early stage companies, a school for children with Autism and Montclair University Business School.
Chris has a background in Product Management and as the first employee to join the founders at Hearsay Social he has led a number of key teams across Product, Customer Success & Sales. Prior to Hearsay Social Chris worked in Product Management at Intuit. Chris now leads our European activities, supporting both global and European customers as they establish and scale social business programs.
Jason is responsible for Hearsay Social’s business across Asia-Pacific where he serves the fast-growing and diverse needs of customers in the region. Jason was an early member of Hearsay Social’s Customer Success team, where he led the growth and scaling of the team globally. He also drove some of Hearsay Social’s largest deployments in partnership with its clients. Prior to joining Hearsay Social, Jason spent four years in Salesforce.com’s Customer Success organization working with clients spanning the mid-market to the Fortune 500. His background includes financial services at Royal Bank of Canada and entrepreneurial work as the co-founder of a successful online media startup in 2006. Jason is an Honours Bachelor of Commerce graduate from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario.
